Kevin Durant is a player that is well known for being outspoken on social media, often using his Twitter account to respond to people’s basketball takes. There is no doubt that his interactions with fans and players on social media are often funny and humorous.

Recently, Draymond Green fired off a take about Stephen Curry in the Finals, suggesting that Stephen Curry was double-teamed “seven times the amount” that Kevin Durant in that series. Kevin Durant in turn responded to that take, claiming that it was “100% false”:

From my view of it, this is 100% false… https://t.co/of6pFJUfvi

“If Steph Curry comes down, and he calls for a pick and roll every play, nobody is going to say a word, including Kevin Durant. Nobody is going to say anything, but that’s not who he is, that’s not what he does. Kevin Durant was absolutely incredible during those Finals, we all watched it. Kevin Durant was absolutely insane. Steph Curry got double-teamed, probably seven times the amount that KD did in a given series. So when you watch those games, and you say, ‘his numbers could be a little down’, he’s facing a double team. And by the way, this isn’t a double team from the Orlando Magic, this is a double team from a team that’s playing in the Finals, and if you’re in the Finals, you’re gonna have a good defense. …This is elite teams throwing elite defenders at guys.”

“The impact he has on the game if you don’t understand basketball, thoroughly understand, not understand the stat sheet. If you don’t understand basketball, which most people don’t, then you’re going to come out and you’re going to say, ‘he needs a Finals MVP to validate who he is.'”

Draymond Green has since responded to Kevin Durant, telling him to “learn to listen to full takes” before tweeting something. There’s no doubt that there are times when fans end up sharing parts of a take, rather than the whole statement that a player makes.

You have to learn to listen to full takes and not snippets before you get baited into tweeting Champ. https://t.co/2dU2MleteJ

Kevin Durant has since responded to Draymond Green’s Tweet as well, claiming that he appreciates “the compliments” from Draymond Green, but added that he disagrees with what was “said about double teams” in the take.

Oh I seen it my brethren, I appreciate the compliments but I disagree with what u said about double teams that’s all. I love the show https://t.co/6M18Ez1Vpr

It is clear that there is mutual respect between the two, and people don’t always have to agree on every single take. At the end of the day, Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry are both players that receive double teams, and it is clear that both were instrumental to the Warriors winning championships in 2017 and 2018.

As of now, Draymond Green’s focus is likely on winning his fourth championship. The Golden State Warriors will be facing the Boston Celtics, and while they will be viewed as the favorites in the matchup, it certainly won’t come easy. We’ll see if the Golden State Warriors are able to win their first championship since 2018, and there’s no doubt that winning the Finals would solidify their status as an NBA dynasty.
