Draymond Green Says He’s ‘The Best Defender To Ever Play In The NBA’

Draymond Green is one of the most outspoken players the NBA has seen in 75 years of history. The Golden State Warriors star has never been afraid of speaking his mind when he doesn’t like how things go for his team or even the way that the franchises do business when they want to trade a player, as he did with Andre Drummond a couple of weeks ago.

Green is a very honest man that will tell anything he wants regardless of if that carries a fine or the criticism of everybody around the league. He is very confident in his talents and the latest display of that came when he claimed he was the best defender to ever step foot on an NBA court. The 3x NBA champion is indeed one of the best defenders in the association right now but that statement raised a lot of eyebrows around the league.

“I think I’m the best defender to ever play this game,” Green stated on Tuesday’s episode of the “Dubs Talk” podcast, via NBC Sports. “One hundred percent. That’s my opinion.”

“I also think I view the game a lot differently than most people view the game because I think I just see it from a different perspective,” Green elaborated. “I think when you look at the things that make a good defender: Reaction time, toughness, being able to see the picture long before it develops, and most importantly, in order to finish a defensive possession, you got to rebound, and I think I rebound well.”

“When I look at all the facets that make up the defensive side of the ball, I think I’m great in every facet that makes up that side of the ball,” he said.

“I think I’m the best defender to ever play in the NBA. I stand by that that, I’d put myself up against anyone.”

Draymond is a one-time DPOY, a five-time All-Defensive Team member and, as stated before, he remains one of the best defenders in the league right now. Well, we had other big defenders in the past and it’s good that Dray is that confident in him but this is a statement that almost nobody will agree with.

For instance, Kendrick Perkins reacted to that, naming a couple of players that were better defenders than Green.

Hakeem Olajuwon, Ben Wallace and Kevin Garnett were all better defenders than Draymond!!! Carry on… https://t.co/cKlxOrVJqd

The big man is trying to lead the struggling Golden State Warriors to make it to the postseason in a stacked Western Conference. Perhaps this is the way he hypes himself up but knowing Green, he has no doubts that there hasn’t been a better defender than him in the history of the league.
