Duncan Robinson On Russell Westbrook: “At Some Point, You Have To Sit Back, And Be In Awe.”

Russell Westbrook is often criticized in the media despite his mind-bending statistics. Russell Westbrook is currently averaging a triple-double, with 21.7 PPG, 10.3 RPG, 10.7 APG. Those averages are insane, and Russell Westbrook is clearly doing well this season. Despite Russell Westbrook’s performances, the Washington Wizards don’t look like they will make the playoffs by the end of the season.

Even though Russell Westbrook is on a losing team, what he is doing is absolutely spectacular, and must be appreciated while he is still able to play at this level. Recently, Duncan Robinson of the Miami Heat has commented on Russell Westbrook and offered some good words about the former MVP.

The Russ slander will not be tolerated. At some point, you just have to sit back and be in awe… I just don’t think he gets nearly the appreciation that he really deserves.

I mean, he’s been doing it for so long too, which makes it so impressive,is just the longevity and he does it everywhere he goes. Even last year, it was one of his better, more impressive seasons from a statistical standpoint just based off efficiency, and everyone seems to think that he’s done, and he’s washed up.

I think the misconception of pinning it on one player, just because they haven’t been able to get it done from a championship perspective, it takes so much more than that.

Russell Westbrook has certainly been blasted by basketball analysts such as Stephen A. Smith for not having a championship. Some of the criticism may be warranted: the ultimate goal of any team is to win the NBA championship. But sometimes, it just doesn’t work out. It takes a team to win a championship, and the blame isn’t entirely on Westbrook. Russell Westbrook is an elite player, championship or not.
