Due to years of damage to the climate, the world is going through a lot of trouble right now. While the COVID-19 pandemic might be in control right now, there are other worrisome things.
One of them is that Europe and the U.S. are seeing a record-breaking rise in temperatures at this point in the year. Obviously, this has resulted in several areas facing drought.
Southern California falls in that category, and as a result, proper budgeting of the water distribution has been made throughout the area. Despite that, former NBA superstar Dwyane Wade and his wife Gabrielle Union have seemingly forgotten about the situation.
It was recently revealed that the NBA power couple reportedly exceeded their monthly water budget by 489,000 gallons in the month of May. This led to both Wade and Union getting a lot of backlash from fans for being irresponsible during a severe situation.
Following the criticism that the couple received, they released a statement regarding the measures that they are planning to take in order to make sure such a situation is not repeated again.

“We have been doing everything we can to rectify the situation and will continue to go to extensive lengths to resolve the issue. We have replaced all parts of our pool system that [have] to do with water flow and leakage in addition to converting to synthetic grass and drought tolerant plants to reduce our water usage. We will continue to work with the city and the water distribution company to make sure this isn’t an issue moving forward.”
While we’re sure that Wade and Union meant well in their statement, it feels like they are putting all the blame on their faulty pool system.
We sincerely hope if that is indeed the case, the couple will reduce their water wastage in the coming months and play their role in helping fight the severe drought that Southern California is facing right now.
