Eastern Conference Scout On DeMarcus Cousins: “Cousins Was Pretty Terrible For The Rockets, And I Do Not See That Changing With The Clippers.”

30-year-old DeMarcus Cousins is headed to the Clippers following his departure from Houston. And while his arrival is welcomed by most fans, some have their doubts that he will make that much of an impact.

According to what one league scout told NBA Analysis Network, DeMarcus is just a shell of himself.

“Cousins was pretty terrible for the Rockets and I do not see that changing with the Clippers,” said an Eastern Conference scout. “He doesn’t have the dominant offensive game he once had and is now an inefficient shell of himself. Couple that with his complete inability to defend out in space…it’s no wonder it has taken this long for him to get a chance with another team.”

Another source suggested Cousins might not even get minutes for the Clips.

“There doesn’t appear to be much of a pathway for Cousins to find minutes with the Clippers. Serge Ibaka is an agile defender that provides needed floor spacing on the other end. Ivica Zubac provides a legitimate rim protection presence for their defense and is an efficient play finisher. Cousins often tries to do too much with the ball and needs to be covered up defensively.”

Through 25 games this season, Cousins has averaged 9.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game on just a measly 37% shooting. It’s safe to say that his run in Houston wasn’t the best.

The question is, what can we expect from him in L.A.? Will a new environment bring out his best, or has the clock simply expired on Cousins’ time as an essential basketball player?

We’ll find out soon enough.
