Frustrations boiled over during a timeout when Thompson was seen discussing the struggles with teammate Kevon Looney and engaging in a heated exchange with Warriors assistant coach Kenny Atkinson.

Adding to the difficulties, in the fourth quarter, Thompson appeared to believe he was benched as he took a seat. However, teammate Stephen Curry had to call him back into the game. This moment highlighted the visible frustration and confusion Thompson experienced during the game.

The game against the Mavericks was part of a challenging season for Thompson, marked by near career-low statistics across various categories. While he showcased glimpses of his best form in a six-game stretch, he is currently in a three-game slump, with the latest game seeing him struggle with his 3-point shooting.

In the broader context of the season, Thompson is averaging 16.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.1 assists, shooting at 41.6% from the field and 37.7% from 3-point range. Despite these challenges, Thompson remains a key player for the Warriors, and the team will likely look to support him as they navigate the ups and downs of the NBA season.

The game itself saw the return of Luka Doncic to the Mavericks‘ lineup, contributing significantly with 39 points, 10 assists, and eight rebounds. The Mavericks secured a 132-122 victory over the Warriors, who have now lost three straight games, falling to a 15-17 record for the season.

Steve Kerr Admits Warriors’ Lack Of Unity A Problem

Steve Kerr, head coach of the Golden State Warriors, openly acknowledged concerns about the team’s lack of grit and unity following back-to-back disappointing home performances. Kerr expressed frustration with the team’s inability to find the necessary collective spirit and dedication to winning consistently.

In a post-game statement after a 132-122 loss to the Dallas Mavericks at Chase Center, Steve Kerr pointed out the team’s chemistry but emphasized the missing element of grit and togetherness. He highlighted the need for the team to connect in a way that is solely focused on winning every game, emphasizing the importance of collective commitment.

Kerr’s comments reflected the stark contrast with the Warriors’ championship-winning teams, which were known for their talent, grit, and ability to make clutch plays. He acknowledged that something is currently lacking in the current squad, evident in the recent losses to the Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks, both of which exploited the Warriors’ defensive vulnerabilities.

When asked about potential individual agendas affecting the team, Kerr acknowledged the need for players to lose themselves in the game, commit to the team, and dedicate themselves to the collective quest. He described an intangible feeling and vibe that is currently absent, leading to challenges in competing through tough parts of the game.

Stephen Curry, the Warriors’ star player, echoed Kerr’s sentiments, recognizing that the team’s struggles prompt individual reflections on how each player can contribute to the collective success. The absence of Draymond Green, known for providing a spark of passion and intensity, due to an NBA suspension has also impacted the team’s dynamics.

While Kerr acknowledged that Green’s return would be a boost, he hinted that it might not be the complete solution. Chris Paul, who has experienced similar situations in his career, expressed confidence that the Warriors would find a way to overcome their challenges by staying connected and maintaining consistency throughout games.
