The Lakers Need A Win Streak To Find Their Place In The West Again

The Lakers started the season with streaky form, but it was good enough to have him within the top six of the West at the start of December. A month where they’ve gone 6-7 has not been good for their position in the West standings. After tonight’s win, they’re 17-15 and sit as the seventh seed in the West. They’re a game behind the sixth-seeded Dallas Mavericks, who are currently on a two-game losing streak.

The Lakers should be able to maintain their position as a play-in team even if they are average through the rest of the season, but the goal for this franchise has always been a title. They’ll still be aiming for a top-four seed and are linked to various difference-making players around the league to heighten their ceiling. Dejounte Murray and Zach LaVine are at the top of their reported wishlist, but the team could go for depth-building moves by targeting the likes of Dorian Finney-Smith and Royce O’Neale.

The Lakers will hope to win their remaining games in December to enter the New Year in a strong position. They face the Timberwolves and Pelicans, both challenging fixtures against teams in front of them in the standings.
