Kevin Durant and Victor Wembanyama put on a show as the Phoenix Suns hosted the San Antonio Spurs tonight. The Spurs pulled off a shocking 115-114 win after trailing the entire game. But fans were enamored with the battles between Durant and Wembanyama, along with the shock loss that the Suns faced on the last possession.

Fans were shocked that Kevin Durant took the fight to Wembanyama and did not shy away from taking shots in the French big man’s face.

Fans couldn’t believe that Durant hit a shot with a full Wembanyama contest given the blocks he’s generated in these situations, claiming it has led to an iconic all-time photo.

Durant’s veteran instincts in matchups against Wembanyama were observed and appreciated by fans.

Fans believe getting sauced by Durant is Wembanyama’s ‘Welcome to the NBA’ moment.

The Suns losing the game on the last possession was shocking to most fans who thought they had the win sealed after dominating for most of the game.

The Spurs’ comeback generated a lot of praise.

Fans were shocked at how the Suns lost a game they led from the opening tip to the very final possessions, as KD had the ball stolen from him for Keldon Johnson to give the Spurs a one-point lead.

The late-game situation the Suns found themselves in was inexcusable. They had an 18-point halftime lead and a 13-point lead heading into the fourth quarter. However, the Spurs benched Wembanyama for a fast-paced small lineup that the Suns had no answer for. With Wemby checking back in with two minutes left, he made two clutch buckets to give the Spurs a shot at winning before Keldon Johnson finished it off.

Wemby ended the night with 18 points, eight rebounds, and four blocks on 50.0% shooting. Durant, on the other hand, saw a 26-point night on 63.2% shooting go to waste, as his turnover at the end of the game allowed the Spurs to sneak the win away. Both teams are currently 2-2 after this result.

Kevin Durant And Victor Wembanyama Had Some Incredible Moments

The competitive fire of this game was going to be questioned from the start due to the Spurs being in a rebuilding situation and the Suns playing without Devin Booker and Bradley Beal. We saw the game be wildly uncompetitive in the first half, as the Suns were dominating. That half also produced a lot of iconic moments, especially between Durant and Wembanyama.

The biggest highlight will be KD nailing a jumper with a full Wembanyama contest, something we’ve seen various players struggle to make.

That wasn’t it, as Durant also introduced Wembanyama to the wrong side of a poster with a fearless rim attack on an out-of-position Wemby.

But one of the highlights we’ll see relayed throughout this season came when Wembanyama cleanly dribbled past Durant, who was guarding him on the perimeter, and unleashed a ferocious dunk over Drew Eubanks.

This game gave us iconic moments between the two stars and an incredible second-half comeback where Gregg Popovich out-coached Frank Vogel thoroughly. Benching Wemby for a small and fast lineup when the Suns were still fielding KD, Jusuf Nurkic, and Yuta Watanabe was a fantastic decision and it paid off.

Thankfully, we also got some Wemby moments in clutch time, so this was an all-around great game to watch.
