- Jokic usually keeps his calm
- Former Nuggets player Thomas Bryant shared when Jokic showed emotion during the 2023 playoffs
Nikola Jokic became a legend for the Denver Nuggets when he led the franchise to its first NBA Championship in 2023.
Jokic maintained a calm demeanor throughout the playoffs. But there was a time when even the Joker couldn’t control his anger. Former Nuggets player Thomas Bryant shared the story in a recent episode of ‘Gil’s Arena.’
“It was one time throughout the playoffs where he actually showed emotion and we’re all like, ‘Oh shoot, okay, yo, keep winning this all right,'” Bryant said. “I think we ran a play wrong and turned the ball over like two or three times in a row. He was just like, ‘I don’t f*****g care about scoring. Just play the right f*****g way!’ It was at that timeout. We’re all just like, ‘Okay, all right, it’s too locked in now.’”

Winning is the most important thing for Nikola Jokic, everything else is secondary for him. Jokic doesn’t even care about stats. So, it was understandable that the Joker was furious when his teammates ran a wrong play and turned the ball over multiple times.
Nikola Jokic Doesn’t Care About Scoring
Nikola Jokic averaged 24.5 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 9.8 assists per game during the regular season. He took things to the next level averaging 30.0 points, 13.5 rebounds, and 9.5 assists per game in the playoffs.
Despite a clear increase in his scoring, according to Thomas Bryant, Nikola Jokic is least bothered about scoring. The 28-year-old only wants the game to be played correctly.
“Crazy is, he doesn’t care about scoring,” Bryant added. “You can do this so passive like he wants to get people open, he wants to pass the ball, so it’s like easy as hell to play with him because he’s just naturally- he’s has a god-given talent for the game of basketball.”
Jokic is certainly one of the most talented players to ever play in the NBA. He has changed the way a modern big is supposed to play the game of basketball. Keeping that in mind, it’s no surprise that Jokic is regarded as the best player in the league by many.
Can the Joker defend his NBA Championship in the 2023-24 season? Or will the Nuggets fail to win back-to-back titles? We will find out in the future.
