The Philadelphia 76ers have a crucial situation ahead of them. There are multiple reports about Ben Simmons’ situation and his alleged desire to leave, while Daryl Morey is also reportedly trying to move on from him.
But, even if Simmons underperformed in the playoffs and that his lack of improvement as a scorer has hurt the Sixers’ chances, one can’t help to think that maybe they’re rushing things a little bit.
Maybe, the Sixers should try and run it back at least one more season. Simmons has been putting a lot of work into his craft and he’s still pretty young.
And, according to newcomer Georges Niang, having Simmons on the team is what makes the Sixers a championship contender:
“That kid is an All-Star, you know what I mean… He is the piece of the puzzle that helps you get to that point, that puts you over the top to win a championship. I don’t know what’s gonna happen, but I’m a huge fan of him and I’m a huge fan of him at Philly,” Niang told SiriusXM NBA Radio.

Niang has a valid point right there. People are looking down on Simmons and talking about him as if he were a bust, but he’s an All-Star and is coming off a Defensive Player of the Year kind of season.
Maybe the solution won’t be to move on from Simmons but to surround him with different kinds of players. No team is willing to pay as much as Morey is asking for him, but you can’t just give away a young former 1st overall pick.
Some say that Simmons is willing to skip training camp and force his way out of the City of Brotherly Love. Hopefully, both parties will be able to make amends and run it back.
