Giannis Antetokounmpo has never been shy to express his opinion on anything. The Milwaukee Bucks superstar knows he’s tried so hard to be where he is right now, and he keeps trying to get better.

However, he still wants to get his flowers and recently claimed he’s been the NBA MVP for the past five years.

“Look, I will never try to create a narrative about the work I put in and maybe that might hurt me because I believe the last five years I’ve been the MVP,” Antetokounmpo told Bleacher Report. “Do I want a third MVP? Hell f—— yeah I want a third one. I am extremely competitive. I try to make my team successful. That’s what I get paid for. That’s what I’m here for. I’m never going to be one who discredits anybody else’s work. That’s not who I am as a person. And I will never beg for an MVP award that I believe I deserve. I’m very proud that I’m able to play at an MVP level because that means I’m making my team very successful. That’s the goal.”

Giannis knows the competition has been really hard during these years, especially with the raising of many international players. Nikola Jokic has won the next two MVP awards after Giannis, and Joel Embiid looks poised to win it this year.

Antetokounmpo remains one of the best players in the league, as he makes a big impact as a scorer but also as a defender. He’s the best of the two worlds, which makes people appreciate him so much. However, it doesn’t seem like he’s getting a lot of MVP love.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Jokingly Says He Wants To Be The Best Role Player Ever

Even though he makes these bold claims every now and then, Giannis always tries to remain humble. So much so that he rejected the notion of becoming the face of the NBA, saying that he prefers to be the best role player to set foot on the court.

He’s evolved a lot since making it to the league, and the Milwaukee Bucks have taken the biggest advantage of that. Giannis is already a Hall of Famer, and he could finish his career as a top-20 player of all time.

It’s still early to say, but if he keeps adding silverware to his collection, he could end up becoming a huge legend in the association.
