Giannis Antetokounmpo is one of the most jovial superstars in the NBA, but even he likes to taunt and be aggressive on the court when required. After posterizing Isaiah Stewart in a game against the Pistons, Giannis taunted Stewart, which led to the Greek Freak getting ejected from the game.

It was clear from his reaction that Giannis was fuming at this decision. I tend to agree as it was a very soft technical foul from the referee, especially when Giannis is already on his first tech for the night. The ejection also nearly swung the game for Detroit, as they overturned a 13-point deficit when Giannis was ejected to a five-point lead by the end of the third quarter.

Giannis had 15 points, nine rebounds, and five assists at the time of his ejection. His defensive impact was massive at that point, with the Pistons finding a lot of life the second Giannis was out of the game. Thankfully, Damian Lillard went ballistics late in the game and ended with 34 points to give Milwaukee the narrow 118-120 win.

The Bucks Rebound From A Tough Start To The Season

After consistently being told that the Bucks are one of the three teams that are most likely to win a title this season, expectations for the franchise became extremely high. They had to work Damian Lillard into their play style and make adjustments to showcase his talents, which was going to take a bit of time. So when the Bucks started the season .500, Giannis was quick to admonish his teammates and the franchise.

“We can keep on making excuses and think that things are going to be okay but that doesn’t work in life, it doesn’t work like that you have to figure out solutions and right now our solution is oh, we have a new player and a new coach so we’re going to be better in game 40?? No. We have to get better, we have to play together, we have to be more clear on what we try to get on offense and accomplish on defense. If we just stay with the mindset of ‘we’re just going to get better in the future’ we will not. We have to every day come to the court and figure out ways to get better and I believe as a team we will get better hopefully.”

These are very strong words for a team just a week into the season, but it worked as the Bucks have been playing with a renewed sense of aggression and focus. Coming back in. the fourth to beat the Pistons puts them on a three-game winning streak as they sit 5-2 as the second-best team in the East.

Damian Lillard is adjusting well after a couple of tough games with the Bucks. His season averages have improved to 24.3 points, 4.7 assists, and 4.4 rebounds after tonight’s game.

The Bucks are still scary and it looks like an inherent aggression within the team is manifesting on the court to fire them up. Giannis sets the tone and it’s clear his teammates are following.
