Giannis Antetokounmpo is as dominant a player as the NBA has ever seen. Having won his first championship last season, and the Milwaukee Bucks’ first in 50 years, Giannis has only gotten better, challenging for the scoring title and playing DPOY-level defense. His latest feat is just as crazy, he crossed the points tally Kareem Abdul-Jabbar had with the Milwaukee Bucks, doing so in a win against the Brooklyn Nets.

One of the most noticeable and likable traits Antetokounmpo has is the fact that he always stays humble and hungry for success. He isn’t one to rest on his laurels. He showed it again after crossing Kareem in the franchise points leaderboard, explaining that he didn’t even know it had happened. It was important to Giannis though, as a way to dispel the narratives surrounding him.

“Did not know about it (passing Kareem). But, it’s good. It’s good because I’m changing the narrative. I don’t wanna be the guy only that dunks and runs. I can make a three.”

Giannis is now first in points scored for the Milwaukee Bucks by a single player in franchise history. His 14,216 is 5 more than Abdul-Jabbar’s 14,211. He crossed him in a win against the Brooklyn Nets, dropping 44 points in a statement performance that helped his MVP case massively as well.

The reference to dunking and running is a call-back to a James Harden quote from the year both players were competing for the MVP. Harden took a shot at Giannis claiming that all he does is run and dunk, but Giannis crossed Kareem’s Bucks tally with a clutch three-pointer. He has generally improved the shooting aspect of his game as well this season.

The Greek Freak has dismantled every narrative surrounding him and is on his way to becoming one of the greatest NBA players of all time. He will undoubtedly lead the Bucks in every major stat category before his career ends and he is already 2nd in rebounds as well as assists.
