Giannis Antetokounmpo’s journey to NBA superstardom is one of the most fascinating stories the NBA has ever seen. Giannis entered the league as a relatively unknown commodity, being selected 15th overall in the 2013 NBA draft.

Since then, he has gone on to become a superstar and has already established himself as one of the greatest players in NBA history, winning multiple individual accolades, and an NBA championship in less than 10 years since he joined the NBA.

And now, Giannis Antetokounmpo’s story will make it to screens. Disney+ released a trailer for ‘Rise’, their upcoming biopic on Giannis Antetokounmpo which chronicles his journey from Greece all the way to the NBA.

Giannis shared this trailer with the fans, telling the world how excited he is to be able to share the story of how he and his family made it to where they are today:

“I can not wait to share the story of my family’s journey with the world!!!”

Antetokounmpo was heavily involved with the documentary, as his story is one that needs to be told with authenticity. The movie will be released on Disney+ on June 24th. With the NBA Finals going no longer than June 19th, NBA fans can at least be happy that they will have some interesting basketball content to watch after the Finals are over.

Antetokounmpo has not only found success by himself. Both his brothers Kostas and Thanasis have won NBA championships in the last few years. Kostas was the first to find championship success, winning the 2020 NBA championship with the Lakers as a two-way player in the G-League.

Giannis and Thanasis wouldn’t have to wait long after, as they won the subsequent 2021 NBA championship with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Giannis’ resume, at the age of 27, is enough to get him a guaranteed spot in the basketball hall of fame, as he has been a multiple-time All-Star and All-NBA player, won 2 MVPs, a Defensive Player Of The Year award, an NBA championship and Finals MVP.
