  • Giannis Antetokounmpo thanks Hakeem Olajuwon on social media for training together
  • Giannis is always looking to improve his game
  • The Milwaukee Bucks lost to the eighth-seeded Miami Heat last season in the First Round

Giannis Antetokounmpo is arguably the best player in the NBA today. He’s an NBA champion, a winner of the Most Improved Player award, a Defensive Player of the Year award, 2 MVP awards, and a Finals MVP award.

Still, Giannis is always looking to get better, and this is why he asked NBA legend Hakeem Olajuwon to train with him. The two finished their training, and Giannis took to social media to thank the Rockets’ legend.

It is always a good sign to see a current player giving props to a player who paved the way for him. So many times, we see the opposite. Plus, Giannis’ understanding that he can always improve and the fact he reached out to Hakeem is very honorable.

Hakeem is one of the greatest players to play the game. Like Giannis, he was big and skilled. This led to Hakeem winning two NBA titles with the Rockets in 1994 and 1995.

At this time of the league, nobody could stop Hakeem “The Dream”. His post moves were otherworldly, especially for the time.

It’s been famously known that Kobe Bryant once reached out to Hakeem, and the two trained together. Kobe wanted to increase his skills in the post, and he knew Hakeem was the one to call. So, if Kobe wasn’t afraid to do it, why should anyone else?

Gilbert Arenas Slams Hakeem For Working With Giannis

Not everyone has been a fan of Giannis Antetokounmpo reaching out to Hakeem Olajuwon for help. Former Washington Wizards star Gilbert Arenas isn’t a fan of Hakeem charging $50,000 to have these players train with him.

“Nobody wants that Hakeem Olajuwon skyhook. You should be ashamed of yourself,” Arenas said. “Charging these young whippersnappers $50,000. When you came into the league in 1984, you weren’t getting $50,000 a game. You’re trying to make the money back through the youth!”

This is a bold claim by Arenas, but when isn’t he making bold claims? Arenas has even recently called Giannis’ brothers as “the perfect water boys.” It appears Arenas has it out for Giannis, but there’s one antidote to solve this… Win an NBA championship.

Giannis is fully focused on the 2023-24 season as he’s ready to taste championship glory for the second time in his career. The loss to the eighth-seeded Miami Heat has placed a bad taste in Giannis’ mouth, so expect to see a dominant season by the Greek Freak.
