  • Gilbert Arenas revealed how he got a ballboy to commit insurance fraud worth $100,000
  • Gilbert Arenas said he told the ballboy to break TVs and other objects around his apartment
  • Arenas then had him file a police complaint and got him the receipts so the ballboy could claim insurance on all those things

Gilbert Arenas was an NBA superstar in his prime, but he has the rare distinction of being remembered for his off-court antics as much as his explosive scoring on the court.

He recently spoke on the Gils Arena podcast about the time he got a ballboy to commit insurance fraud.

“I had my ballboy pull a scam. He got him about $100,000,” Arenas said. “Yeah, I told him insurance fraud. I was like, ‘Sh*t, listen, you work for NBA players right?

“You got an apartment and you ain’t got no money right now. All you gotta do is break the TV here and there, throw some shoes. All the sh*t you own, bring it here. Break some TVs, some lamps, and sh*t. F**kin $400 and all that.

“Then file a police report, right? And then name all the sh*t that was named. I said, it’s all NBA players, just get our receipts.

Boom, boom, boom, just get all the receipts. He filed that, check! Check! $100,000, you’re welcome. My ballboy came back with some real Gucci.”

This whole story seems wild, but it’s also exactly the sort of idea that Gilbert Arenas would come up with. And from the story he told, it seemingly worked too, so the ballboy has Arenas to thank for all that money.

Gilbert Arenas Had To Be Bailed Out Of Jail Himself

Gilbert Arenas received a massive suspension during his career for bringing a gun onto NBA premises. And that wasn’t his only brush with committing crimes, he did plenty of other things too.

He was never going to get away with too much pulling these kinds of stunts, so it’s not surprising to learn that he once had to be bailed out of jail by teammate Jerry Stackhouse

“I had to come and get him from the police station that one night from him driving around in the car with no tags,” Stackhouse said.

“He had one of those with the one wheel. He came to D.C. with a T-Rex [motorbike] and didn’t put tags on it and tried riding around and he’s like, okay.

“They took his a** to jail one night, and then I had to go talk to the police like, ‘Man, I’m gonna get it, I promise you. I’m gonna get him some tags tomorrow.'”

Gilbert Arenas’ stories are always wild, to say the least. His personality has mellowed out a lot with age, but his podcasts are always fun because of the things that he has to talk about.

Gilbert Arenas Once Got $40 Million From Adidas After Throwing A Massive $1 Million Birthday Party

Gilbert Arenas’ schemes to make money were not just limited to other people, he knew how to secure a bag for himself by any means necessary too.

The former All-Star once told the story of how he managed to get $40 million from Adidas by simply splurging on a birthday party for himself.

He explained how throwing a party for 7,500 people including the biggest celebrities like P Diddy and Lil Wayne allowed him to become popular and gain a lot of All-Star votes.

He then leveraged his All-Star nod to get an 8-year, $5 million deal from Adidas totaling $40 million. All of these stories go to show that even without being an NBA player, Gilbert Arenas would likely have found a way to become a millionaire.
