Point guard Ja Morant is one of the rising superstars in the NBA, and there’s no doubt that he is an elite offensive player. Morant is a top-tier finisher at the rim and a special playmaker. He is clearly the main piece to the Memphis Grizzlies’ championship hopes.
Though many regard Ja Morant as an amazing talent, there is no doubt that his issues off the court have made many people perceive him in a negative fashion. He has had multiple instances where he has flashed a gun on social media, and the latest occurrence of that resulted in a 25-game suspension. Many have offered to help Ja Morant navigate his way through this, and the latest person to do so is Gilbert Arenas.

Gilbert Arenas has some experience getting suspended for off-court conduct, and he is definitely well-suited to mentor Ja Morant regarding this issue. Hopefully, we see Ja Morant reach out to him in the future, as this could be a great opportunity for him to learn from someone who has been in his shoes.
During the 2022-23 regular season, Ja Morant put up 26.2 PPG, 5.9 RPG, and 8.1 APG for the Memphis Grizzlies. He is clearly a spectacular player, and it would be an absolute shame if his career keeps getting derailed by these off-court issues.
Grizzlies GM Zach Kleiman Delivered An Honest Take On Ja Morant’s 25-Game Suspension
We previously saw Grizzlies GM Zach Kleiman speak out about Ja Morant’s suspension, with Kleiman noting that the punishment “was appropriate”. He also noted that there are “serious steps” Ja Morant needs to take to be the “best version of himself”.
“We’re certainly disappointed with the behavior that transpired as we got into the offseason,” Kleiman said. “I think the discipline from the NBA, I think it was appropriate… I think there’s a lot of healthy dialogue there. I think everyone did acknowledge early on that this was going to be ongoing and Ja wasn’t just going to become the best version of himself overnight. I think there’s many really serious steps he needs to continue to take.”
Hopefully, we see Ja Morant avoid any other off-court situations going forward. As of right now, it is fair to say that he needs to focus on avoiding drama and playing basketball, and we’ll see what happens in the future.
