The 2022/23 NBA season is closer by the day, and we’re discovering some of the big games we’ll see in the upcoming campaign, with some great duels happening at important dates. In recent hours, it was reported that the Los Angeles Lakers would take on the Dallas Mavericks on Christmas Day, and that doesn’t appear to be the only big game the Purple and Gold will have next year.

We’re yet to see the full calendar for the next season, but at least we have a Christmas Day duel and now one of the first games of the term. Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that the Lakers will visit the Golden State Warriors on October 18 to start the new season.

The defending champions will have their ring ceremony in front of their fans and one of their biggest rivals, LeBron James.

Scheduled for the NBA’s 2022-23 opening night and ring ceremony on TNT: Lakers at Warriors, Oct. 18, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.

“Scheduled for the NBA’s 2022-23 opening night and ring ceremony on TNT: Lakers at Warriors, Oct. 18,” Charania wrote.

This is only the tip of the iceberg of what can be a memorable NBA season. New rivalries can be created, old enemies can face off on the court again, players will clash against their old teams, and many more things will happen in this upcoming season.

The Warriors will try to defend their 2022 NBA championship and hope to start things the right way with a win over the Los Angeles Lakers, a struggling team trying to find their pace again. That’ll be a hard job to carry out, but some people think they can do it.

Still, a loss against the inspired Warriors won’t be enough to set the alarms at Crypto.com Arena, but it could show how the season will go for the Purple and Gold.
