Goran Dragic is nearing the end of his career, at the age of 37, he is no longer the player he once was. Dragic signed with the Milwaukee Bucks in March of 2023, but things didn’t quite work out for him there.
Now, as a potential final season in the NBA approaches for the Slovenian, it seems he wants to end his career on the team he spent the most time on, the Miami Heat.
“I mean, look, how should I put it?” Dragic said, as per SI. “I live here, my kids are here, so definitely, if I am looking to finish my career, I mean, it would be a no-brainer to finish in Miami. This is my home. I spent an unbelievable seven years here. I love all the players, all the people in the front office. This is the city that I see myself in the future, so hell yeah, why not?”
Goran Dragic was never quite a big star in the NBA, but he did earn an All-Star appearance during one year with the Heat. He has been on four teams since he parted ways with Miami in 2021, and it has not worked out for him in any of those franchises. So it’s no surprise he wants to finish his career with the organization where he thrived the most.
Goran Dragic Had A Very Good Run With The Miami Heat
After emerging as a 20-point scorer for the Phoenix Suns in the 2013-14 NBA campaign, Dragic was traded to the Miami Heat in 2015. After arriving in Miami, the Slovenian guard averaged 16.3 points per game for the Heat till 2021. He became a crucial piece for the Heat and even made it to the NBA Finals in 2020 when the organization almost went all the way in the Bubble.
Goran Dragic also earned an All-Star appearance during that time and emerged as one of the NBA’s borderline star players. His stint in Toronto ended poorly, and he even had issues with the Brooklyn Nets during his time there. The Miami Heat’s continued success is also surely a draw for him, the team is in the NBA FInal against the Denver Nuggets once again this season.
