Former NBA champion Iman Shumpert relived the time he was almost robbed in Chicago, but fortunately, or as he put it, luckily made it out safe.
Speaking in an interview, the former Cleveland Cavaliers star spoke about the harrowing experience.
“When I was in Chicago, I got pulled up on. But luckily I was good. I was going to my Airbnb, and they saw us going to the Airbnb, but we were good. I mean at that point I don’t expect people swerving the corner and getting ready to open their doors, I expect none of it. But that’s everywhere.”
Ever since his Kobe Bryant tale that’s become an Instagram staple, Shumpert has been regarded as one of the better storytellers in the NBA after their decorated careers, and when it comes to this chilling tale, he didn’t mince words one bit.
Thankfully, Shumpert and whoever he was with were safe, and that was more important.
Iman Shumpert Reveals How He Still Has His Career Earnings
Over the course of his career, Shumpert made an estimated $48 million in his 10 years in the league and the big man still carries his earnings. In a recent interview, he revealed how he managed to hang on to the money he made during his playing days.
“I didn’t spend a lot of my checks from back then,” Shumpert said. “Like bro, I didn’t spend no money on sh*t, I didn’t want no sh*t. Didn’t even like jewelry that much. I was just chilling, just saving money.
“And if you really think about it, half the battle is being able to get yourself to a point financially where you got a nest egg so you can actually make moves. So many people are probably getting the same check I’m getting right now.”
That’s a good lesson to learn from Shumpert. Clearly, he knew the value of things and that mattered, ensuring that he invested the money the right way.
