Isiah Thomas Reminds Everyone The Bad Boy Pistons Beat Michael Jordan In The NBA Playoffs Even Though He Scored 59 Points Against Them

Michael Jordan and Isiah Thomas have a never-ending feud. They had an intense rivalry in the late 80s and early 90s, with the Bad Boy Pistons keeping Jordan from reaching the NBA Finals in back-to-back seasons. In doing so, they won 2 championships as well. And sometimes, they don’t get the credit they deserve. Isiah Thomas pointed out as much on Twitter on Tuesday.

After a video was posted of Michael Jordan scoring 59 points against the Detroit Pistons in an April game in 1988, Isiah Thomas responded, pointing out that his team won the series against the Bulls that year. He wrote, “35 years ago I led my team Bad Boy @DetroitPistons to the NBA finals, it all depends on which story you want to tell and sale.”

Michael Jordan destroyed the Pistons in that game, but they indeed got the last laugh that year and the next as well. In 1988, the Pistons beat the Chicago Bulls in the Eastern Conference Semifinals in 5 games and went on to win their first championship. Michael Jordan averaged 27.4 points against them during that series when the infamous Jordan rules severely hampered his ability to play at a high level.

Michael Jordan has been and always will be more well-liked than Isiah Thomas and the Pistons. This is not entirely fair, and it’s easy to understand Thomas’ frustrations with the way narratives are run, but Michael Jordan did become the GOAT, which means this is always going to be the situation.

Isiah Thomas Is Still Waiting For His Public Apology From Michael Jordan

For someone that doesn’t seem to be the biggest fan of the man, Isiah Thomas does have to talk about Michael Jordan a lot. Their strained relationship soured after the Last Dance documentary, and Isiah Thomas has called for Jordan to apologize to him in public

“You got on national television and you called me an a****e, and then you said you hated me,” he further added. “You said that on national television. Now, if you didn’t mean it, get on national television and apologize for it. Now, if you meant it, let it ride as it is.”

This is unlikely to happen, Charles Oakley warned Isiah about what Michael Jordan thinks of the situation. But Thomas clearly hasn’t let go of the various issues that have come up between him and MJ. They are both legends of the game, and hopefully, the animosity can be dealt with soon.
