Ja Morant and Anthony Edwards are two of the hottest young talents in the league right now. Morant became a superstar last season and has carried on that way, while Anthony Edwards is announcing himself this season. Brandon Roy’s career was cruelly cut short after the deterioration in his knee cartilage forced him to retire at the age of just 28. He tried to give it another shot in the NBA, but it just didn’t work. He will go down in the NBA as one of the greatest ‘what ifs,’ and it’s good to see young stars giving him his respect.
How Good Was Brandon Roy?
As discussed before, Brandon Roy had 3 All-Star selections to go along with an All-NBA Second Team and an All-NBA Third Team selection. Injuries started taking a toll on him after the age of 27, right when he was about to explode into his prime.
But before that, Roy averaged over 21 points per game for 3 seasons and had 4.6 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game to go along with that. He led the Trail Blazers to the playoffs all 3 of those seasons too. It’s safe to say if he had stayed healthy, then he might just have enjoyed a Hall Of Fame career.
