James Harden is turning a corner after a slow start with the Los Angeles Clippers. After losing their first five games together, the team has found the perfect fit around each other and extended their win streak to eight.
Harden was incredible in last night’s win over the Pacers, scoring 21 of his 35 points in the fourth quarter, and sent a message to his haters on social media.
“First they love you, then… Nvm #Uno.”

Harden was receiving mountains of hate after the Clippers acquired him. The slow start they had immediately after acquiring Harden made that hate even harder to deal with. Ultimately, the Clippers continued focusing on what they needed to do and are enjoying watching the former MVP in his groove as the floor general of the franchise.
He has earned his spot as a starter by thoroughly outplaying Russell Westbrook and is playing well alongside Paul George and Kawhi Leonard. He’s ditched his old role as a high-volume scorer, maximizing the positions his teammates are in to feed the ball to them. This has led to great success for both Leonard and George individually, all because of a floor-general like Harden.
He’s averaging 20.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 9.8 assists over their win streak, with a fantastic true shooting percentage of 72.2%. If he continues at this pace, the Clippers will soon find themselves among the contenders in the West.
James Harden Was Ruthlessly Called Out By An Announcer
One of the most blatant instances of biased reporting against Harden came earlier in the season when Mavericks’ announcer Brian Dameris lambasted Harden for his move to the Clippers.
“Listen James, if you ever had those friends who had bad roommates, over and over they complain about their bad roommates. This guy is terrible, the bad roommate here, they never thought and were self-aware, that they are the bad roommate. They are the problem. And James, you’re the problem. If this doesn’t work, in this system, with this team, you are going to go and point fingers at everybody else, and you are going to go back home and you are going to be swiping right for another team, there is not going to be anybody left. Because James, you’re not the beard, you are not the system, you’re the problem.”
This quote became wildly popular, with many using it to discredit what Harden had achieved. Harden had a muted response to the comments, choosing to not give Dameris any publicity over what he said. Given how this monologue from Dameris added a lot of fuel to the fire of Harden hate at the time, it’s bound to have stayed with Harden until now.
Harden is proving people like Dameris wrong with every performance. It’s too soon to say they are looking like contenders once again, but they’ve brought their season back on track.
