Jaylen Brown decided to do charity in a truly wonderful way, donating a basketball court to the Roxbury Boys & Girls Club in Boston and dedicating the court to the memory of Kobe Bryant and Gianna Bryant.
On the eve of his 27th birthday, #Celtics All-Star Jaylen Brown dedicated a basketball court dedicated to Kobe and Gigi Bryant at the Roxbury Boys & Girls Club. Brown called the honor of presenting the court “the best present I could have ever received.” pic.twitter.com/qBSd7PjgsM

The court features Kobe and Gianna’s names as the center circle, with incredibly drawn murals of the two on the wall next to the court. Even if a Kobe court isn’t something traditional Celtics fans would like, every hoop fan can appreciate how gorgeous that court looks and how it’ll help an entire generation of young hoopers in that area to have easy access to a court like this.
Brown is turning 27 years old and is coming off a summer where he signed the first $300 million contract in NBA history. This season, Brown will make sure he can add NBA Champion to his already rapidly expanding resume.
Beating The Celtics Was One Of Kobe Bryant’s Most Cherished Accomplishments
Jaylen Brown has opened a court in Boston for Kobe, a town that notoriously hates Lakers players. Bryant even had two NBA Finals against the Celtics, losing his first attempt in 2008 and getting his revenge in 2010. Bryant referred to the 2010 win as a relief.
“Most people don’t know this, but I had bone spurs in my ankle. A couple games, I had to leave the game, go back into the locker room, and get it injected because I could barely walk. I had a broken finger that I was playing with a cast on my right finger. Then I was having to deal with Garnett, Pierce, Allen, Rondo, Rasheed, and all these guys. It was a relief to win.”
Bryant averaged 25.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 4.4 assists against the Celtics in his career and won 18 of the 31 games he played against them.
He averaged 27.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 4.4 assists across the two NBA Finals he played against them, proving that he was willing to do whatever it took to beat Boston, keeping the NBA’s most iconic rivalry alive in the late-2000s.
Jaylen Brown And Jayson Tatum Are Sick Of Losing
The 2008 Celtics managed to win a title by overcoming Kobe Bryant’s Lakers, but the new-era Celtics haven’t been able to win a title despite four Conference Finals appearances since 2018. Jaylen Brown explained to the Boston Globe what they need to do this year to finally break the glass ceiling.
“We have to work together more to make sure the group is moving with the right energy. Everybody knows where they’re supposed to be, everybody understands their role… It’s all based on work. It’s all based on trying to complete a mission. It’s all based on trying to lead a team. It’s all based on respect, work ethic, and trying to be the best version of yourself every day.”
Even Jayson Tatum shared his thoughts with the Globe, saying the Celtics are a little too familiar with how to lose and that they need to change that.
“I can’t even put it into words what [winning a championship] would be like. We are due. Four conference finals together, getting to the championship, coming up short, and learning from that. We know what it feels like to lose. We do. We put in the work and we truly believe that we’re going to figure it out and it’s going to be well worth it when we do.”
The Celtics added Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis this summer, with everyone on the Celtics praying they can enjoy good health and finally bring banner No. 18 to Boston.
