Miles Bridges picked up his NBA career where he left it in 2021-22 and returned to the Charlotte Hornets after spending a season away from the NBA with a domestic violence case against him. Bridges returned to the Hornets this year and has reclaimed his value as an NBA player, but an All-Star doesn’t seem thrilled about it.

Jaylen Brown liked a tweet in which a user shared the picture of Mychelle Johnson, the complaint in the Bridges’ domestic violence case, and said it reflects what Bridges off-court talent is.

Bridges has since unliked this post. This is the first example of any active NBA player showing negative feelings towards Bridges, who’s been welcomed back into the league and spent his time away while maintaining relationships with the likes of LeBron James and Draymond Green. Bridges is a Klutch Sports client and likely maintains close ties to James and Green through that.

The treatment given to Kevin Porter Jr. was starkly different, as Porter Jr. was waived by the OKC Thunder after the Rockets traded him away because of his domestic violence case against WNBA player Kysre Gondrezick.

Bridges was a popular name in trade rumors before the deadline as well, with the Mavericks and Suns reportedly interested. Phoenix was pursuing Bridges heavily before Rich Paul announced that Bridges would be using his contractual no-trade clause to remain with the Hornets, the team with his bird rights in the summer. Dallas pivoted to acquiring PJ Washington instead, while the Suns got Royce O’Neale.

Miles Bridges Is A Very Controversial Player

Evaluating Bridges has to be a nightmare right now. While his talent on the court is undeniable, averaging 21.9 points, and 7.2 rebounds this season, the league should be stricter against players with such allegations against them. But with the legal system finding Bridges innocent, teams in the NBA would inadvertently give a player averaging over 20 points like him another shot.

Bridges was allegedly found in violation of the protective order Mychelle had against him in October 2023, as Bridges got hostile and violent during a custody exchange that ended with Bridges throwing billiards balls at the car with his children inside. Nothing came from this situation either, as no further information has been made available on the matter. Bridges remains a valuable NBA player who’ll likely receive a big contract from the Hornets in the summer.

Charlotte will likely re-sign Bridges as well because he’s their second-best player behind LaMelo Ball. While fans around the NBA will be upset at the continual chances Bridges gets, all they can hope is that he’s learned his lesson and is a more caring father to his children.

Bridges’ actions have brought a lot of ire on Charlotte, with even their commentator taking shots at Miles on the court. He’s also unable to enter Canada to play against the Raptors as a result of his legal troubles.
