The times have not been good for LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. With Anthony Davis sidelined indefinitely, and the team on a three-game losing streak already, hope for a competitive season evaporates with each and every loss.

Even LeBron James looked visibly rattled as he watched his team take an L to the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday when a wild sequence of events reminded everyone why L.A. is the worst clutch team in the league.

Unfortunately for Bron, his bad night didn’t end there. After the buzzer, fans also noticed James getting cozy with Hornets swingman Miles Bridges, who is currently on a 3-year probation related to domestic violence charges.

Bridges is apparently close to a comeback on the Hornets, but many fans just aren’t ready to see him take the court again after some of the very serious incidents he was involved in

LeBron James is now finding out for himself just how angry a lot of fans still are at Bridges, as he’s become the subject of criticism for being seen talking friendly with him during their game the other day.

James has always been great at avoiding any kind of off-court controversies. In fact, over his 20-year career, he hasn’t really had any scandals that have seriously damaged his legacy.

In this case with Bridges, it’s unlikely that just talking to him is going to have any long-term implications for the King, but it can still be considered a bad look for someone who is a leader and role model for his community.

Is LeBron James Treated Unfairly By The NBA Fans And Media?

This whole situation tells us how careful LeBron has to be with who he hangs out. The truth is, no player in NBA history has been under as much pressure as LeBron and with such a bright spotlight over his head, any mistake he makes is going to get blown out of proportion. Fair or not, that’s just the way it goes for a star of LeBron’s caliber.

“No player has ever endured, in my opinion… as much vitriol, abuse, and slander that LeBron James has endured,” said Grant Hill.

So, whatever your thoughts are about Bridges and his situation, LeBron’s status as the face of basketball and a world-renowned athlete sets him at a higher standard than the rest. Talking to a guy with as much baggage as Miles was bound to bring some negative attention James‘ way. Whether or not he cared is another conversation entirely.

Usually, he would be able to quell all the noise anyway by winning and dominating on the court. Sadly, that hasn’t been the case this season with the Lakers at 13-19 ahead of Christmas Day.

But if LeBron cannot get back to playing winning basketball soon, there’s a chance some of this negative attention may start to boil over beyond his control.
