With an 8-24 record this season, the Charlotte Hornets have been, arguably, the worst team in the NBA this season. Besides LaMelo Ball and Gordon Hayward (who can’t stay healthy), the Hornets don’t have any real starting caliber players on the team and it has put them in a prime position to land Victor Wembanyama this summer.
But apparently, team GM Mitch Kupchak is trying to improve his team now and he may look toward a familiar name to do it.
In a report by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, he dropped the latest news in Buzz City:
The Charlotte Hornets and restricted free agent forward Miles Bridges are gathering traction in talks on a new deal, and optimism exists that an agreement could come in the near future, sources told ESPN on Friday.
The sooner Bridges and the Hornets can reach a deal, the sooner he can seemingly start serving an NBA suspension expected to be handed down for his role in an offseason domestic violence case. Bridges, who had been accused of assaulting his then-girlfriend in front of their two children in June 2022, pleaded no contest to a felony charge in November and received a sentence of three years of probation and no jail time.
Bridges’ case remains under investigation by the league, and it’s unclear how long a suspension he is facing, sources said.
Bridges and his representatives with Klutch Sports have been in consistent contact with the Hornets organization, and the sides are working together on Bridges’ plans to work with local domestic violence groups and community organizations to start reacclimating himself to the Charlotte community.

What Other NBA Teams Are In The Hunt For Bridges?
By all accounts, it seems like Miles is already planning to return to Buzz City but there are a few other teams that have been reported to have an interest in his services.
Miles Bridges is a restricted free agent, so he is eligible to be signed by any team. But there is a league investigation ongoing after he pleaded no contest to a felony case. I’m told there are several teams including the Lakers and the Pistons that are monitoring the situation and waiting to see exactly what transpires in his conversations with Charlotte and otherwise.
Bridges is normally the type of player that teams go out of their way to avoid. Legal situations like his are oftentimes just too much baggage for teams to accept.
The Hornets, however, don’t have the luxury of being picky with their talent. And since Bridges was one of their best players last season, it makes sense why they’d be open to bringing him back, especially if it’s on a team-friendly deal.
