Miles Bridges is facing the consequences of his alleged violent actions against his partner, as the man who missed a season over domestic violence wasn’t allowed to enter Canada for the Hornets vs. Raptors matchup.

Bridges is currently serving three years of probation after pleading no contest in exchange for no jail time in the June 2022 domestic violence case involving the mother of his two children. He must adhere to a 10-year criminal protection order for the woman, weekly narcotics and marijuana testing, and restitution.
He’s already been charged with a violation of the protective order, going on a mindless rampage where he threw billiard balls at the windshield of his partner’s car while his children were still in it. This didn’t happen in 2022, as it took place a week before the start of the 23-24 season on October 13, 2023. He turned himself in after “unlawfully” and “knowingly” violating the protective order.
Given the consequences Kevin Porter Jr. faced for hitting his girlfriend, Bridges should be given similar treatment. The Hornets are not expected to bring him back next season but they should have never brought him back to the team in the first place. He is still close to the 20-point scorer we saw in 2021-22, but the Hornets are still among the worst teams in the NBA.
Bridges is averaging 19.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.4 assists, recently making history with the second-worst plus-minus in an NBA game in history.
Does Miles Bridges Have A Future In The NBA?
It’s hard to figure out where Bridges stands with the NBA. It’s clear he has some powerful friends and allies such as LeBron James and Draymond Green and other NBA All-Stars he used to be seen working out with during his year-long absence from the NBA. Teams may keep offering him one-year minimum contracts until the heat from his legal troubles has subsided. He is a naturally gifted athlete, capable of hitting threes and being an explosive above-the-rim finisher.
It’s hard to imagine which team will want to accept the backlash of signing Bridges given his wild unpopularity right now. As far as I am concerned, the NBA will be no different if Miles has a contract or not. He’s not a needle-moving player, as evidenced by his absence barely being felt over the last season. He’s back this year and has had some good moments, but none to justify the negative PR of having him on your team.
Unless Bridges is fully cleared in a court of law, he’ll have a negative stigma attached to him that’ll ruin his market value every year he’s on the market. The only team I can foresee giving Bridges a long-term contract whenever he’s available is the Detroit Pistons, given it’s his hometown and they’re the worst team in the NBA.
