Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are both All-Star wings who play for the Boston Celtics. While they are both fantastic players in their own right, there has often been questioning from reporters and analysts on whether they can win while playing together.

On a recent episode of the Knuckleheads Podcast, Jayson Tatum was asked about his relationship with Jaylen Brown, as well as all the noise about them needing to split up to succeed. Tatum categorized the duo’s relationship as “great”, and added that they try to push one another. (37:25)

It’s been great. Two guys that got drafted back to back, to the same team, same draft number. Every day, every game I know where I’m tryna get to, he know where he want to get to, and we trying to figure it out together.

But in a way, we pushing each other. It has been times where he has done something in game and I’m thinking like “Man, I’m tryna do that”. There has been things I done did, where he’s even told me. “Like, yo.”

Everything we do we compete, in a good way. I’m pushing him, we playing 1-on-1 after practice. I think he next step for us is like feeding off each other more in a game. JB, from where he started his first year, and what they tried to label him, like “he couldn’t shoot” or whatever. He shot 38-40% from the 3 and made his first All-Star game. I couldn’t be happier for him… We two are the hungriest players in the league, we’re still trying to get there.

While there has been a lot of talk about the trade talks involving Jaylen Brown, there’s no reason for the Boston Celtics to separate the two talented wings. It’ll take them some time to figure things out in terms of winning, but they are already one of the best duos in the league.

The Boston Celtics are 13-12 currently, and they have been inconsistent this season. Part of that has been Jaylen Brown missing time with injuries. Hopefully, they are able to make a push and move up the standings once they are fully healthy.
