The history of the NBA can be told through the star players that led their respective generations and solidified their greatness in the sport.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and LeBron James are the two players in the GOAT conversation with Michael Jordan and represent different generations of the sport. Kareem had some negative things to say about LeBron leading up to LBJ breaking the all-time scoring record, but KAJ admitted he’s never had a long conversation with James and that he has admiration for everything ‘Bron has achieved.

“I’ve never really had a chance to talk to LeBron, other than 2-3 minutes. There’s no animosity or resentment there at all. He’s done remarkable things, he deserves all the accolades whatever it is that he accomplishes… We might get to text, but I certainly wouldn’t be against it. As far as where his mind is and the things he does, I have nothing but admiration for him.”

James and Kareem have had a contentious relationship, but it seems the doors are open for reconciliation. James had openly even said he and Kareem don’t share a relationship with each other.

Kareem had criticized LeBron’s stance on social issues and former teammate Magic Johnson implied Kareem wasn’t happy about seeing his all-time scoring record fall at the hands of James. Either way, we may see two of the greatest players have some sort of a relationship with each other.

LeBron James Breaking Records Every Season

LeBron had an incredible season in terms of breaking records in Year 20. Not only did he break Kareem’s all-time scoring record but ended the season with 11 records to his name. James also become the all-time playoff leader in two-point field goals made, another distinction he had to overtake Kareem for.

KAJ’s legacy as having one of the longest primes in league history has been demolished by James rewriting expectations of an aging player with the incredible things he’s been doing the last few seasons. He’s clearly slowed down from even the version we saw in 2020 but he’s still a top-ten player in the NBA easily.
