Karl-Anthony Towns Reacts After The Timberwolves Fire Their President The Week Before Training Camp

The Spun

The Minnesota Timberwolves have struggled for years to pull themselves out of the Western Conference bunker,

After failing to make traction with Zach LaVine and Karl-Anthony Towns, the Wolves are hoping to make some traction with the Russell/Towns/Edwards trio.

While the jury is still out on their potential as a unit, the franchise isn’t waiting to make some serious internal changes.

A reported earlier today, the Wolves have said goodbye to their President of Basketball Operations (Gersson Rosas). Insiders later revealed why the move was made, and why it was made at this particular time, the week before training camp.

There has been a building discord between Rosas, the rest of the front office and the organization that has been going on for months, sources said. The team decided to take action now before the season begins instead of letting that discord linger.

So while this may seem like a surprise, this has been building internally with the Wolves for a while.

Karl-Anthony Towns appeared to be quite shaken by the news.

Sources have made it clear that this is a move that has been festering for some time now.

For quite some time now there has been dissension in the Timberwolves front office and organization, sources say. Moving on from Gersson Rosas is not an out of the blue development. In a critical year, with new ownership, the Wolves decided to act now rather than delay.

With new ownership on the way, it’s likely that the franchise will be cleaning house, possibly in favor of guys with more notoriety and experience.

In the end, it’s hard to say how this move will impact the team, or what other changes might come over the next few months and years.

In the meantime, though, the team will continue to develop their talent and built up a culture that can carry them for years to come
