For years, the Minnesota Timberwolves have struggled to make an impact in the NBA. The franchise’s brightest years were when Kevin Garnett was a part of the team. Even with Garnett, the Timberwolves could never perform well in the postseason.

Fast forward to 2022, the T-Wolves have done a lot of work over the last few years. They have built their franchise around Karl-Anthony Towns. Although it took them some time, now they have good pieces around the big man as well.

With D’Angelo Russell, Anthony Edwards, and most importantly Rudy Gobert, the Timberwolves look like a legitimate threat this season. The signing of Gobert was pretty crucial for the franchise.

While KAT might be a good player, being good on the defensive end of the floor is not something he has mastered. But due to the lack of a great center on the roster, Towns was forced to play in that position. Now, with Gobert’s arrival, who is a 3x NBA Defensive Player of the Year, Towns can focus more on the offensive end of the floor.

Moreover, KAT seems to be aware of it and is apparently elated with the news. He recently reacted to a hilarious video on Twitter that showed an example of how Towns will play next season now that he no longer has to play as the center.

Straight bag work.”

Towns’ tweet also had a laughing and bag emoticon which signifies his happiness and the fact that he will be going deep into his bag of skills.

On a serious note, the Timberwolves have traded a lot of assets for acquiring Gobert. But considering the current roster of the team, Gobert’s only job would be to focus on being a beast on the defensive end of the court. Because the Timberwolves have three players who can take care of the scoring duties.
