If someone can talk about overpowered teams with superstars teaming up, that’s the Los Angeles Clippers. As soon as they paired up Paul George with Kawhi Leonard, they became an instant contender to win the NBA Championship.
However, it seems like there’s a new superteam in the league that everyone’s looking forward to facing off: the Brooklyn Nets featuring Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving.
So, now that the red-hot Clippers are set to meet with the Nets, Paul George took the liberty to open up regarding this matchup:
“Yeah, I think everyone is looking forward to that matchup. This ball club and the world is looking forward to it. Should be a great showdown, great matchup. We just finished one, we will prepare for them tomorrow. But yeah, looking forward to that,” George said, as quoted by ClutchPoints.
When asked about how he feels regarding their upcoming matchup, former Defensive Player of the Year Kawhi Leonard had a classic response:
“It’s gonna be tough, but I’m not gonna think about that today,” Leonard said.
Coach Tyronn Lue is quite excited about the way the team is performing on both ends of the floor. After disappointing in the playoffs, they know that their championship window could close pretty quickly:
“We definitely have to get better. It’s still a process and we still have to get better. It’s a lot of stuff we have to add, a lot of stuff we have to take advantage of, mismatches and things like that, that we don’t have in right now. But what we have been getting better at is defensively. Just continuing to keep getting better defensively. Offensively, we’re doing a really good job of sharing the basketball and just playing at our pace, I think has been good for us,” Lue said.
There’s no doubt that the Clippers and Nets are two of the strongest contenders this year and their upcoming clash will be must-watch television for hoops fans all over the world.
