Kelly Oubre Jr. Signs With The Charlotte Hornets On Two-Year, $26M Deal

After a stellar, productive season with the Suns, Kelly Oubre Jr. joined the Warriors with hopes of further elevating his NBA career.

Instead, he struggled to find his groove, famously missing a string of three-pointers through the first few weeks of the season. While he did eventually get into his rhythm, the young swingman tanked his value and remains unsigned through the first four days of 2021 free agency.

The good news is, he has already found his next team

According to David Aldridge of The Athletic, Oubre has officially reached a deal with Charlotte.

The Hornets have been pretty inactive this offseason so far, losing Malik Monk and Devonte’ Graham in free agency.

With Kelly Oubre, they get a solid two-way wing who can produce some solid numbers for the club.

With Ball and Gordon Hayward serving as the centerpieces for that franchise, they are a team very much on the rise in the East.

The only question now is whether or not their young guys can improve and make the playoffs next season. With minimal success as a franchise, returning to the playoffs would be a huge stepping stone for them.

We’ll see if Oubre, or any other player they decide to sign, can help get them over the top.
