Kendrick Perkins: “Of All The Candidates That Are Front Runners For MVP, Steph Is The Only One That Is Not Playing With A Certified Robin.”

The race for the NBA MVP always gets intense. This season, however, things seem to be especially tight. LeBron James, Joel Embiid, Kevin Durant, and several others are considered frontrunners.

In Golden State, star point guard Steph Curry is also among the favorites, and ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins explained why his case may be even more convincing than the others.

“Of all the candidates that are front runners for MVP, Steph is the only one that is not playing with a certified Robin. He does not have another superstar alongside him. Lebron has AD, Kawhi has PG. Jokic has Jamal Murray, Embiid has Ben Simmons.”

With Klay Thompson’s injury and Kevin Durant’s departure, the Warriors are having to endure another shorthanded campaign.

Steph is pretty much on an island out there — but he’s making the most of it. Averaging 30 points, 5.9 assists, and 5.5 rebounds per game on 49% shooting, he has done a miraculous job leading the Warriors this season. They currently stand at 8th in the West with a 14-12 record.

While it remains to be seen how he plays the rest of this season, what he has been able to do on his own this season has been nothing short of remarkable, and it definitely deserves some recognition.
