Kendrick Perkins and Kevin Garnett were the twin towers in the Boston Celtics that won the 2008 NBA championship. These two developed a great relationship on and off the court, stopping opponents in the paint.
Even though Perkins’ defensive talents were always criticized, Garnett was a terrific defender. He was a 12x All-Defensive Player and the DPOY in 2008, becoming one of the few players to win the NBA MVP and DPOY awards.
KG’s defensive prowess is still unmatched in the eyes of Perkins, as the former center claimed Garnett was a unique talent on the defensive end of the ball. Talking on Garnett’s ‘Anything Is Possible’ documentary, the former player-turned analyst praised his former teammate.
“Defensively, I don’t know if we’ve really seen anybody like him. A guy who can switch 1 through five and guard anybody. And when I say anybody, I mean anybody,” Perkins said on the doc released on Showtime this week.
Garnett was one of the most prominent defensive forces in the league during his best days. The Big Ticket didn’t care about the rival; he would give his everything to take the win. However, NBA fans had a different opinion on this, naming other players that can guard the five positions on the court, contrary to what Perkins claimed.

When it comes to Kendrick Perkins, NBA fans will always be ready to prove him wrong. It’s happened this week when he selected the five toughest players in the league and he left Nikola Jokic out, so you know this man is constantly under fire.
KG was indeed a great defender, but claiming he was a unique talent on the defensive end is too much.
