The Los Angeles Clippers became the 13th team in NBA history to blow a 3-1 lead. But more than that, they became the most overpowered team to choke this way since the ‘Heatles’ Big 3 vs. the Dallas Mavericks or even the Lakers’ Fab Four vs. the Pistons in 2004.
Doc Rivers had put together an incredibly deep team and even added more key pieces midseason in Marcus Morris and Reggie Jackson. They had plenty of players who could step up in the playoffs but, as you can tell by now, that just didn’t happen.
And now, former NBA player Kendrick Perkins recently said that an inside source that the Clippers plan to break up their roster right now:
“The Clippers are going to break this up whether you like it or not. I heard from the inside source they’re all going to break this up. They are going to break this up,” Perkins said on ESPN.

Perkins went on to blast Clippers’ role players for not showing up in the playoffs, going as far as to claim that they should get rid of their two Sixth Men of the Year candidates:
“The bench. Reggie Jackson gotta go, Montrezl Harrell gotta go, and Lou Will gotta go. None of those guys provided the production that the Clippers needed,” Perkins said.
There are clearly some adjustments that the Clippers must do if they want to finally make the Western Conference Finals for the first time in franchise history but perhaps it’s too early to hit the panic button. Another full season together may be more than enough to fulfill their potential.
