The Philadelphia 76ers have been one of the best teams in the league this season. They are 1st in the Eastern Conference and look like championship contenders. This is a huge improvement over last season, as the 76ers were swept in their first-round matchup against the Boston Celtics. That resulted in the firing of coach Brett Brown, followed by the hiring of coach Doc Rivers.
Recently, Kendrick Perkins has claimed that the Philadelphia 76ers’ biggest problem last season was the coaching of Brett Brown. While Brown had some solid regular-season success, he never got them over the hump in the playoffs.
It’s amazing what a Head Coach can do for Players and Organization huh?! Remember when I kept preaching last season that the Problem in Philly wasn’t the players but it was Brett Brown! Doc Rivers got Embiid playing like MVP and Ben Simmons looking like a DPOY! Carry on…

The right coaching is very important for a franchise, especially a franchise with two elite stars. At some point, they had to get a coach that could get the best out of their players, and Doc Rivers seems to be the correct choice. The Philadelphia 76ers made marginal adjustments during the offseason, but their moves weren’t anything major. It seems like Doc Rivers is simply thriving with what he was given.
It remains to be seen whether Doc Rivers will see the same success in the playoffs as he is in the regular season. However, Brett Brown failed in the playoffs multiple times, and the 76ers had to let him go. Hopefully, Doc Rivers can provide a different outcome during the postseason than Brett Brown.
