When he’s not on the court dominating his opponents, Suns star Kevin Durant is probably behind a screen going back and forth with the fans. As one of the most active social media users in the entire NBA, KD doesn’t just use Twitter to engage with the fans, he actively seeks out the haters to put them on blast.

Recently, Durant himself explained this behavior and jokingly described positivity as boring: “…I feel right at home when I’m on edge,” Durant wrote.

Positivity is boring, I feel right at home when I’m on edge

This thread of tweets originated from this reply from Durant, which made a joke about the new game eligibility rules on the new CBA.

Don’t count. Didn’t play 65 games https://t.co/slaYSpBrpj

Brother, it was a joke. U choosing to be offended is weird

— Kevin Durant (@KDTrey5) April 7, 2023

Calm down brother, it’s not that serious

This activity is, of course, nothing new from Durant. In fact, this has become the norm for him ever since joining the Warriors and embracing the ‘villain’ narrative fans gave him at the time.

Today, Durant has had many ups and downs over his career, and his image among the fans has become complicated. Still, his legacy cannot be denied — even if “legacy” isn’t something on KD’s mind anymore…

Kevin Durant Says He Doesn’t Care About His Legacy

Despite being one of the best and most accomplished players the modern NBA era has seen, KD has decided to ignore any talks of his legacy and keep his mind focused only on hooping.

“I don’t care about legacy,” Durant told The Athletic. “I used to. I used to want to carve out a lane or space in this game for myself that people can remember, but it’s become too much of a thing now. It just becomes too much of a focus on other people. What’s he done? What’s he done? Comparisons. Before, when we wasn’t doing all this debating, I cared about it … I’m about to be in the same breath as these top guys. It was big. Nowadays, I truly, truly don’t care. I truly just want to go out there and produce, be the best that I could be, go home, hang with my family, that’s it.”

This season, Durant is facing some pressure to win, whether he admits it or not. After the disaster that unfolded in Brooklyn, all eyes will be on KD to see if he can finally win a ring without the help of Steph Curry.

But either way, no matter what happens, KD isn’t going to stop his social media campaign and we can expect him to continue challenging his haters every step of the way.
