• Kevin Durant was not happy after Aaron Rodgers suffered a suspected Achilles injury in the Jets’ season opener

• This was Rodgers’ debut for the Jets

• The former MVP and Super Bowl Champion ended a 17-year tenure with the Green Bay Packers in the offseason

Kevin Durant knows how bad Achilles injuries can be. No athlete wants to see someone else suffer that fate, but Durant’s viewing of Monday Night Football was hampered when Aaron Rodgers hurt his Achilles and was stretchered out of his debut for his new team. Durant’s tweet explains his emotions perfectly.

“I’m so sick right now. Get well soon 8…”

Durant is intimately familiar with what an Achilles injury can do to an athlete. He lost a year of his career and has been unable to enjoy extended periods of health anymore. Rodgers is already 39 years old, so an Achilles tear could end his career before he even started his stint with only the second team of his 18-year career.

Aaron Rodgers Injury Details

Aaron Rodgers was just starting his stint with the Jets when he was sacked by Leonard Floyd of the Buffalo Bills. The questionable Jets’ Offensive Line let Rodgers down and left him vulnerable. The star quarterback didn’t get off the turf immediately and was eventually taken out of the game.

X-rays have revealed his ankle is not broken, as the injury was initially suspected to be related to the ankle. However, belief has quickly spread around social media and the NFL that the injury could be related to his Achilles, prompting Kevin Durant to share the message of support.

Rodgers took a big risk by moving to the Jets and reducing his salary to make sure the laughing stock franchise can break a 13-year postseason drought, but if Rodgers is seriously hurt, those chances look very slim.

Kevin Durant Can Guide Rodgers’ Through Recovery

Kevin Durant has started helping out many athletes that have suffered Achilles tears in recent years given his remarkable comeback from his own injury. KD took a season and a half to fully recover and returned to the league like he never missed a beat. That has served as an inspiration to many athletes who want to have similarly potent returns from this injury.

Klay Thompson reached out to Durant to recover from the Achilles tear he suffered in December 2020. The advice worked as Thompson returned in January 2022 and played a crucial role in leading the Warriors to another championship. Maybe Rodgers decides to reach out to Durant and see if there’s anything that he can apply to his injury, even if it is not as severe as a tear.

Even though Durant is going to be laser-focused on bringing the Suns their first-ever championship, he will always take time out for athletes recovering from an injury like this.
