In the 2021-22 NBA season, the Eastern Conference is without a doubt the better conference in terms of having several teams that have a significant chance at playing the 2022 NBA Finals. Two of such contenders, the Brooklyn Nets and the Philadelphia 76ers faced off against each other recently.
Fans from all around the globe tuned in to see the outcome of the game. After all, apart from being a stunning fixture, the matchup also had several other narratives going down too. For example, Ben Simmons’ return to Philadelphia, albeit being sidelined.
As expected, the former 76ers guard was booed by the fans even before he entered the stadium. Well, at the end of the day, it was Simmons and the Nets who had the last laugh as they comfortably dominated the 76ers.
They claimed a 29 point win over their rivals while Kevin Durant was the star of the show. Of course, the Nets fans were joyous and started celebrating like they won the NBA Championship.
It was none other than KD himself who explained the fact that it was just a regular-season victory, nothing more nothing less. Durant said in the postgame conference:
“It’s a regular-season win. Did we win a championship tonight? No. Did we get to clinch a playoff spot? No.”

Even after the win against the 76ers, the Nets are still in the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference. Moreover, they are barely over .500 with a record of 34-33. With less than two months remaining in the season, it is the perfect time for the Nets to make a late push.
It shouldn’t be a herculean task for the team as at one point in the season they were sitting comfortably at the top of the points table. Can they manage to avoid a play-in spot and book a spot in the playoffs? They are definitely making a case for it.
