Going from Jordan Poole to Chris Paul will certainly be an adjustment for the Golden State Warriors, but there is optimism internally that it will help bring them closer to another title.

Since the big trade, countless Warriors leaders have stepped up in support of CP3, and Klay Thompson became the latest one to follow suit by offering this statement on Podcast P:

“I mean, we’re lucky. He’s one of the greatest players ever,” Thompson said. “He’s top 75, he’s elevated every franchise he ran the point for. And me as a shooter, I’m excited. I just know CP’s gonna put it right here, on the seams… he’s gonna set me up nice. I’m gonna get a couple extra easy buckets every night. And he’s a winner. I’ve played against him so many times, I know how competitive he is. He’ll do anything to win. That’s the vibe we want.”

Say whatever you want about CP3, but he’s always been a great floor general, and he will make life easier for Steph, Klay, Draymond, and everyone else on the team.

Even at 38 years old, Paul can read the game like nobody else, and he uses this court vision to set up his teammates with the best possible looks. It remains to be seen what kind of role Paul will play with the Dubs this year, but Steve Kerr will surely find a way to fit him in.

Are Warriors Title Favorites Next Season?

Any squad with a healthy Steph, Klay, and Draymond is going to make some noise in the West, but the Warriors aren’t nearly as strong as they used to be. That was evident this past season when Golden State lost to the 7th-seed Lakers in the Conference Semi-Finals.

Moving forward, it’s hard to say where the Dubs stand. While it’s impossible to count them out completely they have to prove they still have what it takes to come out of the West. Chris Paul should help get them there, but they’ll need more people than just him to carry the load if they want to succeed.
