Klay Thompson Hilariously Corrects Reporter When Talking About His New Nickname: “It’s ‘Sea Captain’”

Klay Thompson played another game with the Golden State Warriors in the 2021/22 NBA season. The shooting guard had a decent night against the Dallas Mavericks, who didn’t have an answer for the Warriors. The Dubs easily won the game, 130-92, sweeping Luka Doncic and co. off the floor.

Thompson finished the game with 15 points, 2 rebounds and 6 assists, earning praise from fans and teammates alike. The Splash Brother is slowly finding his touch this season and fans simply love to see it.

During the post-game interview, Klay had one of his moments with a reporter, revealing the new nickname the rest of the Warriors gave him. He hilariously corrected the reporter, who messed up the nickname a little bit.

“I’m with the man they call ‘The Captain’ around here. Klay Thompson embracing it. It, certainly feels this is one of the most complete victories you guys had in a long time and to do it against a team that was playing so well coming into tonight, what does this do for you guys?” The reporter asked.

Klay didn’t pay much attention to the question and started correcting the reporter, saying his real nickname.

“Sea Captain. Sea Captain,” Klay replied.

Thompson was in great spirits after the game, talking about his good game and how he felt playing 25 minutes on the court. He’s getting more action by the day and the Dubs know it’s a matter of time before we see him playing at the highest level.

“I am just happy that I was able to uptick my minutes tonight. I mean it was probably a season-high for me – 25 minutes. I’m going to get my good rest tomorrow and excited to play against the T-Wolves on Thursday. Felt good to make some three-balls too and have an efficient night from the floor. I really pride myself on my efficiency, so it felt good to be myself again.”

The Warriors have returned to winning ways in recent games and that’s made their fans happý. They dismantled the Dallas Mavericks last night, showing great collective work to defeat a dangerous rival.

Klay is trying to find his rhythm and every game he looks better. Once he’s in the right shape, the Warriors will be an even bigger threat to the rest of the league.
