The Boston Celtics are completing a three-team deal that will give them Kristaps Porzingis from the Washington Wizards.
The Latvian big man was linked with a move to the Greens earlier today, as Shams Charania reported that the Celtics were interested in an opt in-and-trade move for Porzingis. Now, the move is done and the Celtics got another interesting piece ahead of the 2023-24 NBA season.
“Celtics, Wizards, Clippers are closing in on a trade sending Kristaps Porzingis to Boston, Malcolm Brogdon to L.A., and Marcus Morris and draft compensation to Washington, sources tell,” Shams Charania reports.

This is a big move for the Celtics, who once again fell short of winning last season. After securing the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference, the Celtics lost to the Miami Heat in the Conference Finals after coming back from an 0-3 deficit and forcing a Game 7.
Porzingis didn’t have the best time in Dallas, struggling to connect with Luka Doncic, and after one season and a half in Washington, the player showed flashes of his best version.
In 65 games with the Wizards, he averaged 23.2 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists. He was also linked with a move to the Los Angeles Lakers in recent hours.
Celtics Have A Big Four After Landing Kristaps Porzingis
With this move, the Celtics remain a top team in the East, and their potential lineup of Robert Williams III, Kristaps Porzingis, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart looks like a more serious threat now.
This team is still young and they keep getting better. Porzingis’ addition can make a lot for this squad if he stays healthy. The C’s are set to make that final step and win a championship, but it remains to be seen if they can fight their demons and win it all once and for all.
Jaylen Brown’s extension is another pending deal for them, but the team is walking in the right direction ahead of free agency.
