Kyrie Irving Calls On President Biden To Take Action After Brittney Griner Gets 9 Year Sentence In Russian Prison

The basketball world often sticks together in times of crisis, and the WNBA is undergoing one such situation. After allegedly being caught with vape cartridges in her luggage at the airport, Brittney Griner has been detained by Russian authorities and has just received a brutal 10-year sentence from the court.

In response, fans, experts, and league executives across the nation are banding together to show support for Griner and put some pressure on U.S. authorities to bring her home.

Despite dealing with his own drama, Kyrie Irving is the latest to publicly tweet support for BG, calling on Biden to take some steps and reveal the plan.

“What is truly happening with our Queen @brittneygriner @potus @vp? Please give us an Update,” Irving tweeted.

Of course, this isn’t the first time that Uncle Drew has tweeted such a message. Last month, he also used a similar method to help Griner get her life back.

Irving has now taken to social media to strongly urge the government of the United States to make something happen, sharing a petition that is asking for something to be done in this situation.

“Brittney Griner has been illegally detained in Russia since February 17th, 2022. I’m urging the @WhiteHouse to prioritize Brittney’s safe return home immediately!”

Needless to say, Irving has been following this situation and has made it his personal mission to help resolve things. As an NBA All-Star with practically no political power, Kyrie can only do so much for Griner.

It all falls on President Biden and his cabinet to pull the strings and negotiate some kind of deal with Russia. In the meantime, though, Irving is going to work to make sure nobody forgets what BG is going through and how important it is to her and her family that he be brought home before too long.
