• Former Team USA No. 10 Kyrie Irving is happy with the player that’s succeeding him with the number

• Anthony Edwards is wearing No. 10 for Team USA in the FIBA World Cup

• Irving won Gold in the 2014 FIBA World Cup and 2016 Olympics with Team USA

Team USA will be hoping to bring back Gold in the 2023 FIBA World Cup, amending the catastrophic 2019 campaign where they finished seventh. One of the stars leading the 2023 outfit is No. 10 Anthony Edwards from the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Kyrie Irving wore the same jersey during the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympics and is happy with Edwards being the one to don the famous jersey in the World Cup.

“It’s not by coincidence that some of the best of the best have worn No. 10.”

The history of No. 10’s in USA Basketball is rich. Irving took the number from none other than Kobe Bryant, and the first person after Kyrie to wear it was Jayson Tatum. Edwards is on the same development path as these players but still has room to grow before he can be in the same conversations.

Anthony Edwards Looking To Take A Big Step Forward This Summer

Edwards had a breakout season for the Timberwolves last season, being named an All-Star and helping the team make it to the playoffs. He also led the Wolves in taking a game off the Nuggets who went on to win the championship. He averaged an impressive 31.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game in the first-round loss.

The friendlies Team USA have played until now indicate that Ant will be one of their focal points. His well-rounded offensive ability with solid defense is incredibly useful in a FIBA setting. This is his first senior team appearance for the national team, and he’ll be looking to make Gold medallists like Kyrie and Kobe proud.
