Kyrie Irving returned to the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse for the first time since 2017 and the Cleveland Cavaliers had a very touching tribute ready for the player that helped them win their first NBA championship back in 2017. He responded in the best way, showing his respect to the team and the fans.

It was the first time we got to see the new-look Brooklyn Nets with their Big 3 but in the end, we saw a one-man show after Collin Sexton took over to take the Cavs to the win in a 2OT thriller that ended with a 147-135 result. Sexton went for a career-high 42 points ruining the “inauguration day” of Irving, James Harden and Kevin Durant.

After the game was over, people reacted to the Nets losing their first game with their stellar Big 3. One fan took things to the next level, focusing only on Kyrie and Sexton. He pointed out the irony of Sexton dropping 42 against the Nets in a night that saw Kyrie’s returning to the Nets, to his former arena against the team that gave him his first NBA championship to date.

“Kyrie came back just to watch somebody score a career-high in the exact jersey and number he won a ring in, tough,” the person wrote on Twitter.

If that wasn’t enough, Sexton was wearing Kyrie’s shoes so he made sure to lit up the point guard and his team on a very special night for him. Well, Collin wasn’t having any of that and he delivered. He scored 20 straight points in OT to take his Cavs to the promised land in the best way.

It was a tough night for Kyrie but a great one for Collin Sexton, who keeps surprising people in his second season with the Cavaliers.
