Lakers Player Thinks LeBron James And Stephen Curry Need To Team Up

Christian Wood made it clear that he wants to see LeBron James and Stephen Curry on the same NBA roster.

The 2024 Olympics came and went in a flash, with the short-lived team-up of LeBron James and Stephen Curry coming to an end after the pair led the USA to the Gold medal. The chemistry the pair have with each other has been undeniable for every fan, with Christian Wood on the Lakers thinking James and Curry need to team up for the culture.

“Bron and Steph should team up for the culture lol.”

Wood is currently on the Lakers, so he definitely shouldn’t be hoping that James joins the Warriors to team up with Curry. The pair were the leading duo for Team USA despite being surrounded by the best American players the NBA has to offer.

While the practical fit of the two on the same NBA roster is challenging with their contracts and ages, the desire to see the legends team up on the same NBA team is rapidly increasing from fans after watching Team USA.

James was full of compliments for Curry after the Olympics, showing how much he loved playing alongside his longtime rival.

“You just marvel at his talent. Obviously, I’ve seen it before, you know, on the opposite side. But having him on your side, you just try to get stops and figure out other ways on the other end, but keep finding him, keep getting him the ball.”

James averaged 14.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 8.5 assists at the Olympics while Curry averaged 14.8 points on 47.8% from three.

What Team Would LeBron And Steph Team Up On?

If they are to team up, it seems the Warriors might be the primary destination because Curry has a much more storied relationship with that franchise than LeBron with the Lakers. It also hurts Steph’s cache as a one-team man and would further bolster him if James came to join him, similar to how James went to join Dwyane Wade.

Curry has two years left on his contract, with James re-upping on a two-year, $101 million contract this summer. Unless James leaves LA as a free agent next season by exercising his player option and takes whatever money the Warriors have to offer, this team-up is going to remain highly unlikely.

In all likelihood, we never see James and Curry wearing the same team colors in the NBA. But if we had to imagine a situation where that could happen, which team would the pair choose? The Warriors are the easier choice, but with Curry expressing his impatience with the team’s lack of competitiveness, he could become disillusioned and want a winning situation.

Would the Warriors let Curry leave for the Lakers? They won’t have a choice if he does that as a free agent in 2026, but James will be pushing 42 years old by then and might not be performing at the level we’ve seen him do recently. If they team up, they have to do it sooner, with James’ free agency next season being a possibility, but it seems like LeBron is aiming to retire on the Lakers.

A third team, maybe in the East could be a distant possibility, but that seems even more far-fetched than the previous scenarios. Unless the Lakers or Warriors agree to trade their franchise cornerstone, this duo will likely never be together on an NBA court.
