During the introduction press conferences ahead of last season, LaMelo Ball was asked whether he watches college basketball. “I ain’t gonna lie, I don’t be watchin’ the hoop.”

Ball didn’t actually play college basketball, as he chose to play professional basketball in Latvia and then Australia before eventually making his way to the NBA. Additionally, his father, LaVar Ball was outspoken about how the collegiate system was unfair to athletes as they weren’t getting paid. So Ball not watching college basketball wasn’t too surprising.

LaMelo Ball Ready To Take Over The NBA

LaMelo Ball, coming into his fourth year in the NBA, will be looking to take the next step in his career. He has already been an All-Star but is yet to have any playoff experience.

And last year was arguably his worst season with the Charlotte Hornets. But it may have been a blessing, as the Hornets now have another young star they can pair with LaMelo in Brandon Miller. Miller recently caused more controversy as he was criticized for not knowing NBA players like Khris Middleton and Jonas Valencuinas.

Miller and LaMelo will be expected to be the new star duo for the Charlotte Hornets. The duo could be talented enough to help the franchise reach the NBA playoffs for the first time in several years if they click and are able to perform well together.
