LeBron James stacked the deck in his favor as he competed against Team USA teammates Anthony Davis, Joel Embiid, and Tyrese Haliburton in an off-hand free throw competition, which he easily won. As his teammates shot with their left hand, James, who shoots leftie, used his right hand to swish a free throw, as Embiid and AD banked it in while Haliburton missed.

James is among the few ambidextrous players in the NBA, showing an affinity for shooting or using either hand on the court. Many have previously suggested James has been shooting with the wrong hand for years, though those complaints have disappeared as he’s gotten older and become a more consistent shooter.

One of the reasons LeBron is the all-time NBA leading scorer is his adaptability to using either hand while shooting, an ability that doesn’t seem to carry over to other elite players in the NBA.

James shot 41.0% from three last season on 5.1 attempts per game, easily the best 3-point shooting year of his career. He also shot 75% from the free throw line, marking another improvement in his accuracy from the line.

LeBron James Will Be USA’s Flag-Bearer At The 2024 Olympics

LeBron James will make history during the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics as he becomes the first men’s basketball player in history to lead Team USA as their flag-bearer

Two women’s players (Sue Bird and Dawn Staley) have previously held the ceremonial position, but James will be the first man to do the same, with the women’s flag-bearer yet to be announced.

“We are thrilled to announce LeBron James as one of two flag bearers who will lead Team USA in the Opening Ceremony, and officially open the Paris 2024 Games,” U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee CEO Sarah Hirshland said in a statement

“Being selected by your teammates to carry the flag is a tremendous honor – and a testament to LeBron’s passion for Team USA and his dedication to his sport. We will watch with great pride as the flag bearers lead our athletes who are about to embark on a remarkable journey together.”

James reacted to the news while in London, preparing for Team USA’s exhibition matchup against Germany.

“It’s an incredible honor to represent the United States on this global stage, especially in a moment that can bring the whole world together. For a kid from Akron, this responsibility means everything to not only myself but to my family, all the kids in my hometown, my teammates, fellow Olympians and so many people across the country with big aspirations. Sports have the power to bring us all together, and I’m proud to be a part of this important moment.”

James was nominated for the honor by Team USA teammate Stephen Curry, who has been one of James’ biggest rivals throughout their NBA careers. Now, they hope their joining forces will bring home Team USA’s fifth consecutive Gold medal in basketball.
